Refund Policy
Refund and Returns Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
Thank you for purchasing artwork from Capricorn Prints. I want you to be happy with your purchase. This policy explains your rights if you wish to cancel an order, return an item or request a refund.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
1. Returns and cancellations
If you are purchasing artwork as a consumer, you generally have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your artwork, without having to give a reason.
If you wish to cancel your order, please contact me at:
Email: helencallear@gmail.com
Please include your name, order number and details of the artwork you wish to return.
Once you have notified me that you wish to cancel, you must return the artwork to me within 14 days.
The artwork must be returned in its original condition and, where reasonably possible, in its original packaging.
2. Cost of returning artwork
Unless the artwork is faulty, damaged or not as described, you are responsible for the cost of returning an item following cancellation.
I recommend using an insured and trackable delivery service, particularly for original artwork and limited-edition prints, as I cannot be responsible for items that are lost or damaged while being returned.
3. Refunds
Once the returned artwork has been received and checked, I will issue your refund within 14 days.
Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase.
Where you exercise your statutory cancellation rights, I will refund the standard delivery charge you paid for the original order. If you selected a more expensive delivery option than the standard delivery method offered, I am not required to refund the additional cost.
I may delay the refund until I have received the returned artwork or you have provided evidence that it has been sent back.
4. Artwork that arrives damaged
All artwork is carefully packaged before dispatch.
If your artwork arrives damaged, please contact me as soon as possible at helencallear@gmail.com, ideally within 48 hours of delivery, and provide photographs of:
The damaged artwork
The packaging
Any visible damage to the outer packaging
Please keep the original packaging until the matter has been resolved, as it may be required as evidence for a delivery claim.
If the artwork has been damaged before it reached you, I will work with you to arrange an appropriate remedy, which may include a replacement, repair or refund depending on the circumstances and availability of the artwork.
5. Faulty or incorrectly supplied artwork
If your artwork is faulty, significantly damaged before delivery, or is not what you ordered, please contact me as soon as possible.
Your statutory consumer rights apply, and you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund depending on the circumstances.
6. Original artwork
Original artworks are unique pieces and cannot normally be replaced if you return them.
If you exercise your statutory cancellation rights, the artwork must be returned in an appropriate condition. You may be responsible for any reduction in the value of the artwork resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning.
7. Limited-edition prints
Limited-edition prints may be individually numbered and form part of a finite edition.
If a limited-edition print is returned under your statutory cancellation rights, the returned print may be resold where appropriate. The edition number itself does not give the purchaser a right to keep the artwork if the statutory cancellation rights are exercised.
8. Personalised and commissioned artwork
The statutory 14-day cancellation right may not apply to artwork that has been made to your specifications or clearly personalised.
This may include commissioned artwork or pieces created specifically for you based on an agreed brief.
Before beginning a commissioned piece, I will agree the requirements with you. Once work has commenced, cancellations may not be possible except where required by law.
If commissioned or personalised artwork is faulty or does not conform to the agreed specification, please contact me so that I can discuss an appropriate remedy.
9. Artwork purchased as a gift
If artwork is purchased as a gift for another person, the cancellation and return period begins when the person who placed the order, or the recipient where legally applicable, receives the artwork.
The purchaser remains responsible for arranging and paying for any return where the return is not due to the artwork being faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied.
10. Exchanges
I do not routinely offer exchanges.
If you have changed your mind about an artwork, you may instead exercise your statutory cancellation rights where they apply and return the artwork for a refund.
11. Items that cannot be returned
Where permitted by law, the right to cancel does not apply to:
Artwork made specifically to your specifications or clearly personalised
Other goods for which the statutory cancellation right is excluded under applicable consumer law
This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.
12. Contact
